Heisei Nakamura-za at the Lincoln Center Festival 2014
The Heisei Nakamura-za returns to the Lincoln Center
Festival this summer, July 2014. The company led by the two brothers,
Nakamura Kankuro VI and Nakamura Shichinosuke II will be presenting a fantastic
classic Japanese ghost tale, Kaidan
Chibusa no Enoki. A rarely performed play, even in Japan, unfolds a
dramatic story surrounding the intricate relationship between the characters. A
theatrical performance filled with Japanese culture and tradition, and
featuring several fantastic traits of kabuki - like the quick changes of
Nakamura Kankuro who plays three completely different roles, the female
role portrayed by male actor Nakamura Shichinosuke, and the incredible fight
scene that takes place in the waterfall. Co-stars include Nakamura Shido and
Kataoka Kamezo who performed along Kankuro and Shichinosuke in the sold-out
performance that took place in Tokyo, spring 2013.
Don't miss this chance to see a full-scale kabuki play overseas!!
Performances will take place at the Rose Theater from July
7 - 13.
Tickets and further information available on Lincoln Center Festival website.
